Hutchison Ports LCT is a Specialized Container Terminal that makes loading and unloading containers by land and sea, as well as the handling, storage and custody of containers either by sea and / or land. To speak of the container terminal of Lázaro Cárdenas is to say that nothing is the work of chance. In 2003, the Hutchison Ports group entered into a contract for the partial transfer of rights to operate the existing terminal in the port of Lázaro Cárdenas (which had not moved any container since 1995). Within this same contract, the option to build a new specialized container terminal in this port. This new container terminal consists of 3 stages for its construction. The first stage contemplated the development of 28.3 Ha of patio, 600 linear meters of dock, 4 dock cranes (Superpostpanamax) and 12 yard cranes. In September 2014, the second phase of this terminal is inaugurated, which consists of 28.3 Ha of patio, 330 linear meters of dock, 7 cranes of (Superpostpanamax) and 18 cranes of patio. It should be noted that the port equipment is state-of-the-art, which allows it to position itself as the most agile terminal in the entire Mexican port system, achieving productivities that position it as the second most important terminal in the Americas, competing with large ports like the one in Long Beach, LA and Balboa, Panama. In a decade, the Hutchison Ports group in the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas has converted Hutchison Ports LCT into the most important container terminal in all of Mexico, generating 1,200 direct and 10,800 indirect jobs. The terminal was planned to offer an agile, productive gateway with great capacity, at present it has 76 hectares of patios and warehouses, 11 super post panamax cranes, 28 RTG cranes, 930 meters of dock, 3 docking positions, a natural draft of 16 meters, with yards with a capacity of 2,000,000 TEUs increasing the spring productivity of this terminal, with a total investment of MXP $ 4,700M (360M USD). Thanks to the equipment and experience of the crane operators, the record of 235 vessel hour movements was achieved, record never seen in Latin American ports, this productivity was recognized by the most important Danish shipping company in the world. In June 2014, two S-Class vessels of the Maersk Line shipping company were operated simultaneously. with a capacity of 9,850 TEUs.
